I’ve heard the term “bases are loaded” often in baseball. It then becomes the responsibility of the next batter to bring everyone home.
Are your bases loaded? Have you filled all the slots to receive your windfall?
Windfalls are tricky in the baseball scenario because they depend on other people doing their part in a timely fashion.
No matter what the outcome is; will you be okay in receiving the results?
Are you so heavily invested that you will lose it if it doesn’t go your way?
Always remember that it’s not always what happens to us but how we respond that determines who we are and how we grow in life.
The baseball scenario had more than just the guys on bases to consider, there’s the other team, angle of the sun, wind conditions for the batter, the actual hitting of the ball.. etc.
Feel good about the role you play and if things don’t go the way you think they should have, then look for the lesson.
I guarantee there’s one there. If not for you to learn, then one of the other participants and you are just an observer in the game learning from a different perspective.
We learn differently when it’s not happening to us.
